Bhandari, Lama win

KATHMANDU: Suraj Bhandari of Next Generation Academy and Dhiraj Lama of Future Brighter School of Baglung entered the boys’ 20-kg final at the 11th International High School Karate and Kick Boxing Championship. In girls’ 20-kg, Karmu Lama and Godhuli Thapaliya entered the final. In all, 675 students from various schools of Nepal, India and Bangladesh are taking part in the tournament. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Birgunj Youth Academy defeated Ganapati Youth Committee 3-2 at the ‘C’ Division League Selection Football Tournament. Krishna Shakya, Subhash Rayamajhi and Nirajan Patel scored for Birgunj, while Manoj Silwal and Devendra Bhandari got goals for Ganapati. In other matches, Romeo Boys Club downed Bhaktapur District FA 3-0; Chandeshwori Youth Club beat Jamila Youth Club 2-0; and Bishal Milan Kendra beat Men-XI 2-1. — HNS

Shuvatara in quarters

LALITPUR: Shuvatara School entered the quarter-finals at the Campion Inter-school Football Tournament, beating Manjushree Higher Secondary School 1-0. In the other match, St Xavier’s School beat Kathmandu Valley School 1-0 and advanced to the last eight. Saturday’s quarter-finals pit: Campion vs Little Angles’ and Malpi vs Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya. — HNS

Maths dept triumph

KATHMANDU: Mathematics department defeated Microbiology department 3-0 in the final of the Inter-science department Volleyball Tournameny, organised by Microbiological Students’ Association of TU. Also, Physics department ‘A’ beat its ‘B’ team to finish third. Head of Microbiology department Dr Anjana Singh gave away prizes to the winners. — HNS
