2nd Himalayan Cup

KATHMANDU: The second Himalayan Cup Inter-college Cricket Tournament is resuming from today with CCRC facing National College in the last quarter-final match at the TU Stadium. The tournament, which has been organised jointly by Himalayan White House International College and The Himalayan Times, was postponed due to rain. Also on Tuesday, KU will take on White House ‘A’ in the first semi-final. — HNS

Gyan Niketan win

Kathmandu: Gyan Niketan School defeated Galaxy Public School by five wickets in the New Lira Inter-school Cricket Tournament. Batting first, Galaxy were bowled out for 125 runs in 25 overs. Ramesh Shrestha scored 28 runs. For Gyan Niketan, man of the match Sushil Aryal claimed four wickets. In reply, Gyan Niketan overcame the target losing five wickets, riding on Santosh Aryal’s 43. — HNS

Totti’s plea rejected

ROME: Italy’s highest soccer court upheld a five-match ban imposed on AS Roma captain Francesco Totti for punching an opponent in a Serie A match last month. CAF rejected Totti’s appeal to reduce the ban, issued by the league’s disciplinary panel. — AP
