Committee formed
KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) formed a six-member organising committee under vice president Shreeniwas Rana for the upcoming ICC Inter-continental Cup and ACC Fast Track Countries’ Tournament between Nepal and UAE. Others in the committee are Laxman Prasad Bastola, Ashok Nath Pyakurel, Diwakar Ghale, Kiran Rana and Pradip Kumar Karki. The three-day match will begin on May 7. — HNS

LONDON: Chelsea stars Frank Lampard and John Terry could miss England’s exhibition games in the United States later this month because they’re planning to have surgery to repair foot injuries. COLOMBO: Police raided the premises of Sri Lanka’s cricket board, seizing the building and handing it over to a government-appointed committee. The three-hour drama at the office comes as Sri Lankan cricket has been in crisis since the government last month suspended the elected cricket board and appointed an interim committee to run the sport. — AP
Rockets coach fined
DALLAS: The NBA fined Houston Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy a record $100,000 on Monday, a day after he accused officials of targeting Yao Ming and saying Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is to blame. On Sunday, Van Gundy said a referee not working the playoffs called him and warned that officials “were looking at Yao harder because of Mark’s complaints” to the league office. — AP
