ANTTA elections held

KATHMANDU:

The first general assembly of All Nepal Table Tennis Association (ANTTA), held for the first itme in 50 years, elected a 13-member central executive committee under the presidentship of Chaturananda Baidya. However, former president YP Lohani did not attend the assembly. Parambir Shumsher Rana was re-elected as the general secretary, while other members are Nabin Bahadur Shakya, Dharmama Bajracharya, Ninu Satyal, Tendi Sherpa Lama, Brijendra Hamal, Kiran Shrestha, Anup Kumar Shrestha, Dil Bahadur Gurung, Manoj Giri, Umesh Dhumanu, and Suman Shakya. — HNS

Figo out of Barca clash

MADRID:

Luis Figo has been left out of the Real Madrid starting lineup for its game with Spanish league leader FC Barcelona. Figo will be on the substitute’s bench at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Sunday. Michael Owen, who scored the winning goal in Madrid’s 2-1 league win over Albacete last weekend, will replace Figo. “The coach’s job is to pick and leave out players,” Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo told news agency Efe on Saturday.— AP
