Eight referees get badges:

LALITPUR: Sushis KC, Chitra Bahadur Thapa, Amit Khoju, Prabhat Shrestha, Malik Chaudhari, Ekadashi Chaudhari, Amrit Shrestha, and Raj Kumar recieved the ANFA referee badges from ANFA president Ganesh Thapa at the closing ceremony of the Referee Training Programme. Karate & Kick Boxing:

KATHMANDU: Lainchaur branch dojo of Nepal Shito Ryu Karate Association is organising the first Valley wide Shito Ryu Karate and Kick Boxing Tournament from March 19-20 in Kathmandu. About 1,000 athletes from 50 dojos are expected to take part in the event, which features bouts in 10 weight categories in official karate and four in kick boxing in men’s section and eight in karate and two in kick boxing in women’s sections. Social worker Runa Shrestha contributed Rs 1,00,000 for the event. — HNS

Greene beaten again:

LIEVIN: Former world record holder and Olympic 100m champion Maurice Greene suffered his second successive defeat at the hands of American compatriot Leonard Scott in the 60 metres at the indoor meet. Scott triumphed in a time of 6.46sec with Greene in second spot in 6.55 and France’s Ronald Pognon taking third in 6.56. — AFP
