Zaragoza unveil Babic

MADRID: Spanish Primera Liga side Zaragoza on Tuesday presented their latest signing, Croatian defender Marko Babic. The 28-year-old, who has 49 caps for his country, came to the club on a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin. He is the sixth new player to join Zaragoza since their promotion to the Primera Liga last season. Babic’s unveiling comes on the day Spanish press reports suggest the club are also set to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo on a five-year contract. — AFP

Govou ruled out

LYON: Lyon captain Sidney Govou has been ruled out of action for four weeks because of a thigh injury, the French first division club confirmed on Tuesday. “Sidney will be out of action until the end of the next international break,” said Lyon coach Claude Puel. Lyon, who had been bidding for an eighth straight league title last season, finished third in 2008-09 with Bordeaux crowned champions. — AFP
