Umpires to go to Doha

KATHMANDU: Nepali national cricket umpires Himal Raj Giri and Raman Shiwakoti are on Saturday leaving for Qatar to participate in the ACC Level 2 Umpiring Course, said the Cricket Assciation of Nepal in a release on Friday. The one-week umpiring course — under the programme of the Asian Cricket Council — will be held from August 16-22 in Doha. — HNS

LRI beat Panga

KATHMANDU: Learning Realm International (LRI) School registered a 76-62 victory over Panga in the eighth Kirtipur Cup Valleywide Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Friday. LRI took a 22-16 lead in the first quarter, while Panga reduced the deficit in the second quarter scoring 16 points to LRI’s 12 points. After the break, LRI came back strongly scoring 21 points each in the two quarters, while Panga managed 16 and 14 points. Nilesh Rai top scored for LRI with 40 points. — HNS

Sainju to go to US

KATHMANDU: Nepali judo referee Binod Raj Sainju is on Saturday leaving for the US to officiate at the 11th World Masters Judo Championship slated for August 20-23 in Atlanta. Sainju was invited by the World Masters Judo Association (WMJA). Sainju will also attend a seminar in Georgia Centre on August 19. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Defending champions Shree Budhanilkantha Higher Secondary School defeated National Campus 3-0 at NK Memorial Inter-college football tournament here

on Friday. Bhuwan Thapa, Dinesh Karki and Dinesh Lama scored a

goal each for Shree Budhanillkantha. In the other matches, ACME College registered a 2-1 victory over Classic College, while Canvas College and White House Higher Secondary School played a goalless draw. — HNS
