Sri Lanka arrive
KATHMANDU: A 26-member Sri Lankan team arrived here on Monday for the PM Cup Football Tournament slated for March 5-15. The team includes 20 players, five officials and a referee. Republican Sports Federation of Nepal (RSFN) vice-president and spokesperson Rana Sangram Bista welcomed the team at the Tribhuvan International Airport. The Sri Lankan team is pitted in Group ‘A’ with Nepal ‘Blue’ and JW Team of Thailand. Sri Lanka will open their campaign against Nepal ‘Blue’ on March 5 before playing JW Team on March 9. — HNS
Karate tournament
KATHMANDU: Nepal Kyukoshin Karate-do Association is organising the 15th National Men’s Open and eighth Women’s Weight Category Full Contact Karate Tournament here on March 27-28. The tournament features championships in men’s open weight category and women’s above 55kg and below 55kg sections. Top three winners in men’s section will receive Rs 30,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 7,500 respectively. Likewise, top three winners in women’s sections will get Rs 8,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 2,000 each respectively. — HNS

London: Ben Foster kept Manchester United’s bid for an unprecedented five trophies on track with a man-of-the-match performance in a penalty shoot-out win over Tottenham in the League Cup final on Sunday. The England goalkeeper produced two crucial saves to deny Tottenham victory in open play. Having already bagged the World Club Championship, United now have a chance to emulate Celtic of 1967 by completing a domestic treble as well as the European Cup. — AFP
