LALITPUR: Rajan Gautam netted 15 points as Einstein Academy drubbed hosts Children Paradise School (CPS) 64-3 in the second CPS Cup Inter-college Boys Basketball Tournament. In other matches, JVC defeated JU Academy 66-47 and Campion hammered Bern Hardt 96-23. — HNS

Women’s volleyball

KATHMANDU: Dhorpatan Volleyball Training Centre is organising the third Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women’s Double League Volleyball and third Gongabu Deepjyoti Cup Men’s Volleyball from January 4. The women’s league is scheduled for January 4-10 while the men’s tournament is slated for January 11-20. Top three winners in the women’s event will get Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively while the winners in the men’s tournament will earn Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000. — HNS

NIST in quarter-finals

KATHMANDU: NIST entered the second Aaditya Memorial Inter-college Twenty20 Cricket Tournament quarter-finals with a seven-wicket win over Saipal. Batting first, Saipal were bowled out for 67 runs. NIST overcame the total losing three wickets in 6.3 overs with Ronald Dulal scoring unbeaten 30. Also, Triton beat hosts Budhanilkantha ‘A’ by eight wickets. Budhanilkantha made 64-9 and Triton surpassed the total in 6.3 overs. Rabin Joshi scored 45 off 21 balls. — HNS

Inter-school handball

KATHMANDU: Reliance Academy and Tops School recorded victories at the second National Open Inter-school Boys Handball Tournament. Reliance thrashed Siddhartha Shishu Sadan 13-1 while Tops laboured to a 13-12 victory over Laboratory School. Siddhartha Shishu Sadan, however, won their second match 12-6 against Manakamana School. Shree Jyoti School got a walkover win. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Akash Chhantyal scored a hat-trick as Brigade Boys Club (BBC) hammered Star Club 6-1 at the Martyrs Memorial ‘B’ Division League. Milan Chandra Rai, Bhupendra Raut and Anil Gurung also scored for BBC. Also, Boys Sports Club beat Pulchowk Sports Club 2-1. — HNS

KATHMANDU: HIMS sneaked to a 25-23 win over TIA while Deep Jyoti defeated hosts Golden Peak ‘A’ 34-17 in the Junior Boys’ matches at the second Golden Peak Inter-school Basketball Tournament. In the girls’ section, TIA beat Deep Jyoti 22-15 and Valley Public beat Arunodaya 28-14. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Hosts Annal Jyoti School ‘A’ and Samakhushi English Boarding (SEB) School advanced to the boys’ section semi-finals at the eighth Valleywide Inter-school Volleyball Tournament. Madan Smarak and SEB joined New Diamond and Annal Jyoti in the girls’ semi-finals while Saptagandaki and Mt Olive made it to the junior boys’ semi-finals. — HNS
