Rehdon advance

KATHMANDU: Rehdon and Intensive College made it to the quarter-finals of the Rehdon Trophy Inter-college Volleyballl. Rehdon advanced as Group C winners after defeating New Vision and Rainbow while Intensive entered the last eight as winners from Group D with wins over Ed-Mark and Gyan Kunja. Young Vision from Group C and Gyan Kunja from Group D also made it the quarter-finals. British Gorkha, Lincoln, Classic and Gillette have already advanced to the quarter-finals. — HNS

Teresa, LRI win

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley eased to a 40-11 win over Ideal Model, Teresa saw off Newton 35-9 and LRI hammered Prithvi 51-12 in the senior boys’ section matches at the third Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament. In other matches, Reliance beat Neighbourhood 36-16, Anmol Jyoti beat Nyatapol 28-3, Gyan Niketan defeated Birendra Sainik 49-28 and Loyalty beat Forward Academy 49-18. In senior girls’ section, Teresa sneaked past Valley Public 16-5, Reliance blanked Nyatapol 10-0 and LRI overcame Clinton 24-17. — HNS

Mt Glory triumph

KATHMANDU: Mt Glory won both the senior and junior boys’ section matches at the first New Zenith Cup Basketball on Monday. In senior boys’ section, they beat Puspa Sadan 46-36 and in the junior boys’ section, they overcame LRI 29-16. VS Niketan and hosts New Zenith won the senior boys’ matches while winners in other junior boys’ section matches were Panga School and Deep Jyoti. — HNS

Martial Arts seminar

KATHMANDU: Nepal National Martial Arts Games Committee (NNMGC) is organising a martial arts seminar here on September 1-3. British Professor Paul Steven McBay will conduct the seminar, said NNMGC and the organising committee president Krishna Bahadur Balal. Meanwhile, the British Professor met wit the National Sports Council member secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha on Monday. — HNS
