TAC beat Kaski XI

RUPANDEHI: Tribhuvan Army Club entered the quarter-finals of the 16th Tilottama Gold Cup with a 1-0 win over Kaski XI here on Friday. After a goalless first half, Bikarna Shrestha scored the solitary goal of the match in the 64th minute. On Saturday, Nabil Three Star Club will take on hosts Rupandehi XI in the semi-finals. Three Star had a first round bye and entered the last four after Knight Chess Club pulled out of the tournament, while the hosts stunned Sahara in the first match and then shocked Friends Club in the quarter-final. — HNS

LALITPUR: Sakchham Nagar Youth Club beat Garuda Sports Club 5-1 in the Group C match of the Martyrs Memorial C Division League here on Friday. Arjun Subba struck twice, while Bhim Tamang, Ramesh Tamang and Durga Lal Shrestha scored one each for the winners. Shankar Tamanag scored the consolation goal for Garuda. In other matches, Nirmal Shrestha scored two goals as Madhyapur Youth Association beat Charumati Yuva Pariwar 2-0, and Sri Bhagawati and Varsity Football Club played a 1-1 draw. Sonam Lama put Bhagawati ahead in the first-half injury time before Nandu Khapangi netted the equaliser six minutes into the second half. Sakchham Nagar lead the standing with seven points. Shri Bhagawati and Sanepa have six points each, while Madhyapur have five. — HNS

Rato Bangla in final

KATHMANDU: Rato Bangala defeated Malpi International 66-52 in the semi-finals of the FedEx Fr Watrin Women’s Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Godavari Alumni Association, on Friday. Rato Bangala took a 14-point lead at the half time, scoring 16 points each in the first two quarters. Malpi netted 11 and seven. The first two quarters proved decisive as both the Rato Bangala and Malpi scored 34 points each in the last two quarters. Maya Shyangtan of Malpi was the highest scorer in the match with 31 points, while Neha Chaudhary netted 25 for the winners. The other semi-final between Snow Leopard and Nitin Memorial College and the final are slated for Saturday. — HNS

Arunodaya win

KATHMANDU: Arunodaya defeated Cyprus 22-2 in the inaugural match of the first Odyssey Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Friday. Chhiring Lakpa netted 12 points for the winners. In the other girls’ section matches, NOBS defeated Shangri-La 16-9 and Prithvi beat Lyceum 25-10. In boys’ section, Cyprus beat hosts Odyssey 12-8 and The Skylark defeated Prithvi 12-4. — HNS
