NPC draw Dordoi

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club (NPC) will face two-time defending champions Dordoi-Dynamo of Kyrgyzstan in the semi-finals of the fourth AFC President’s Cup in Bish-kek, Kyrgyzstan on September 19. The NPC were beaten by the Dordio-Dynamo 1-2 in the final last year in Pakistan. The Nepali outfit qualified for the semi-finals as the Aroup A runners up. 2005 champions Regar TadAZ of Tajikistan will face Kanbawza of Myanmar in the other

semi-finals. The final is slated for September 21. — HNS

Judo Championship

KATHMANDU: A three-member Nepali team left on Monday for Yemen to participate in the second Junior and ninth Youth Judo Championship to be held there from July 1-5. Prakash Shrestha (55kg in junior section) and Sunita Magar (57kg in youth section) will take part in the event. Coach Jeet Bahadur Chaudhary is the other member of the team. Member Secretary of National Sports Council Jeevan Ram Shrestha bade farewell to the team. — HNS

Thapa in quarters

LALITPUR: Hira Bahadur Thapa and Suresh Kumar Gurung entered the quarter-finals of the first CG TV Squash Championship here on Monday. In the day’s matches, Hira beat Bikendra 9-1, 9-6, 9-1, while Gurung defeated Anil Bajracharya 9-3, 9-3, 9-3. Likewise, Dhana Bahadur Ghale defeated Manoj Bahadur Shrestha 3-1 to enter the Master’s section quarter-finals. — HNS
