Nepal team champs

KATHMANDU: Nepal claimed the team championship with 27 gold medals here at the second JSKA International Karate Championship on Saturday. India finished second with six gold. In all, 700 karatekas took part for the 33 championship titles played over three days. Nepal Olympic Committee president Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan among others gave away the prizes. — HNS

Para Olympic selection

KATHMANDU: Govinda Neupane won the cycling competition in the disabled section during the selection for the International Para Olympic to be held in Beijing in 2008. Khem Baral finished second behind Neupane. Likewise, Dinesh Gyawali and Saroj Bhattarai claimed the top two positions in the 200m running for the visually impaired. Bhawendra Singh won the partially blind section ahead of Keshav Raj Bikram. — HNS
