RNGC triumph

KATHMANDU: Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) won the third British Gurkha Friendship Golf Tournament here at the RNGC on Sunday. Played with the match-play format, the RNGC won seven matches against the five by the organising Ex Brigade of Gurkha. Each of the two teams comprised of 12 members each. RNGC golfers Shreejay Acharya won the longest drive award and DT Sherpa claimed the closest-to-the-pin award. RNGC president Madhukar Yakthumba and Ex Brigade of Gurkha president Maj Mani Prasad Rai gave away the prizes. — HNS

Classic in final

BHAKTAPUR: Classic College International beat Penta Academy by six runs to enter the final of the Stupa Cup Cricket Tournament on Sunday. Batting first, Classic scored 125-6 in their allotted 15 overs and restricted Penta Academy for 119-6. Classic will take on Kantipur City College in final.— HNS

GBC enter semis

KATHMANDU: Gyan Bhairav Club (GBC) advanced to the semi-finals with a 3-1 win over Baneswor Youth Club in the seventh Sano Gaucharan Knockout Football Tournament on Sunday. Ganesh Khadka, Umesh Upretti and Yugal Kishor Rai for Gyan Bhairav. In another match, Himalayan Sherpa beat Annapurna Club 1-0 to enter the quarter-finals. Dipendra Pariyar scored the winner for the Sherpa Club. — HNS

Kanchanpur win

MAHENDRA NAGAR: Kanchanpur ‘Red’ entered the semi-finals of the 10th Women’s National Football Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Panchthar. Janak Bohara scored two after Maya of Panchthar had put Panchthar ahead. Likewise, Kanchanpur ‘Blue’ trounced Saptari 9-1. Nirmala BK and Dhansari Singh scored a hat-trick each while Chandra Kuswar added two and Tara Poudel one. Kamala Pariyar replied for Saptari. In another match, Kathmandu and Rautahat played a goalless draw. — HNS
