Three Star win

KATHMANDU: Nabil Three Star Club defeated Bhutan XI 4-0 to enter the semi-finals of the All India Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup Football Tournament in Gangtok on Sunday. After a goalless first half, Pradeep Maharjan put Three Star ahead in the 73rd minute before Santosh Sahukhala doubled the lead seven minutes later. Ju Manu Rai then struck twice in the 85th and 92nd minute to seal an easy victory. Another Nepali club, New Road Team beat Titan Kerala on Saturday to make it to the semis. — HNS

Training begins

KATHMANDU: The coaches and players’ training, held under the Asian Archery Development Project, began here at the Dasharath Stadium from Sunday. In all 30 coaches and archers from Kathmandu and Pokhara are undergoing the two-week training, said Nepal Archery Association president Laxman Kumar Shrestha. “The programme will help produce better archers in future,” said Shrestha. Archery coach Henry D Manalang of Philippines is conducting the training. — HNS

Padlock on

KATHMANDU: Nepal Wushu Diploma Committee (NWDC) said they would continue padlocking the Nepal Wushu Association (NWA) office until their demands were met. The NWDC has locked down the NWA offices since October 29 demanding the resignation of president Sitkar Rajbhandari and chief coach Pranil Dhoj Karki. They are demanding the National Sports Council to form the new NWA committee. The NWDC protest programme has jeopardised Nepal’s participation in the World Wushu Championship slated for November 10-12 in China . — HNS
