LALITPUR: Sanjaya Mulmi defeated Tashi Sherpa 3-1 at the National Selection Snooker Tournament on Friday. In other first round matches, Niraj Thapa beat Raju KC 3-0; Dipu Shakya beat Bhaskar Shah 3-0; Buddha Lama beat Sishir Lama 3-1; Om Karki beat Sanjaya Lama 3-2; and Chakra Lama beat Suman Gurung 3-2. In all, 22 cueists from 20 clubs are taking part in the tournament. The top two players will represent Nepal in the second Asian Indoor Games to be held in Macau from October 26 to November 3. — HNS
Subhadra wins
KATHMANDU: Subhadra Shrestha and Parasuram Bastola finished first in the women and men’s singles kata at the eighth National Karate Tournament, which has been organised by Far-western Regional Sports Development Committee under the auspices of National Karate Federation and Kailali District Sports Development Committee, on Friday. Central Region finished first in the team kata. Earlier, Education and Sports State Minister Mohan Singh Rathor inaugurated the tournament. — HNS
