Sri Kumari beat Cannon
KATHMANDU: Bikram Adhikari scored a hat-trick and Nabindra Maharjan added another as Shree Kumari Club beat Cannon Club 4-2 in the ‘C’ Division League Football on Sunday. Siddhi Shrestha and Mandeep Basnet replied for Cannon. Naxal Youth Association and Battisputali played a 2-2 draw in another match. Sumit Shrestha and Arun Sapkota scored for Naxal while Khagendra Singh and Binod Bista converted for Battisputali. Meanwhile, the National Sports Council today directed All Nepal Football Association to include Annapurna Club in the ongoing ‘C’ Division League. The Club opted out of the league until the last moment but pleaded to play after the start of the league. — HNS
Manang Marsyangdi clinch title
KATHMANDU: Manang Marsyangdi Archery Club ‘A’ won the Inter-club Archery Tournament, organised by The Mustang Club, on Sunday. Manang won the title with a total score of 121 points while Nepal Chhyantyal Federation (NCF) finished second with 119 points. Hosts Mustang ‘A’ came third with a total score of 117 points. Dhapan Wangdel of Manang ‘A’ won the individual event followed by Purna Bahadur Chhyantyal of the NCF. Nine teams took part in the two-day competition. — HNS
Budokaido tournament
KATHMANDU: The sixth Nation-wide Budokaido Tournament began here on Sunday. The tournament features men’s 40kg and 50kg along with open weight categories in both men’s and women’s sections. In all, 62 men and 16 women from five Development Regions are taking part in the tournament organised by the Nepal Budokaido Full-contact Karate Association. — HNS
Chelsea lose 0-2 at Aston Villa
LONDON: Chelsea missed the chance to return to the top of the Premier League on Sunday when it lost 0-2 at Aston Villa. Zat Knight and Gabriel Agbonlahor scored for Villa. Chelsea trails leader Liverpool on goal difference as one of four teams tied on 10 points. The others are Everton and Arsenal, which beat Portsmouth 3-1. Manchester City was a point back losing 1-0 at Blackburn. — AP
