Henin triumphs

TORONTO: Top-ranked Justine Henin beat Jelena Jankovic 7-6 (3), 7-5 in the Rogers Cup for her sixth title of the year on Sunday. Jankovic had a 4-1 lead in the opening set but Henin eventually won in a tiebreaker. Henin kept up her strong play in the second set, completing the win for her 35th career victory. — AP

Federer’s 50th title

MASON: Top-ranked Roger Federer reached another measure of tennis greatness, winning his 50th tournament title by beating James Blake 6-1, 6-4 in the Cincinnati Masters. The Swiss star became the fifth-youngest player in history to reach 50, and only the ninth overall in the Open Era to win at least 50 tournaments. — AP
