Milan eye Eto’o

MILAN: AC Milan plans to make an offer to Barcelona for striker Samuel Eto’o. “Milan will make an official request to Barcelona after the end of the Spanish league,” the Italian club said. The club added it has not reached an agreement with Barcelona, and that the Catalan club “holds the final decisions” on any transfer. Eto’o joined Barcelona in 2004 and has scored 11 goals this season in the Spanish league. — AP

COLOMBO: A senior Sri Lankan air force officer has been appointed as the new manager of the national cricket team, replacing Michael Tissera, a Sri Lanka Cricket official said. Air Vice Marshal Sriyan Samararatne was picked after an interview with Sri Lanka Cricket, the governing body of the sport here. Samararatne is on a two-year contract. — AFP
