Rain plays spoilsport

KATHMANDU: The scheduled matches of the UWTC Inter-corporate Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here at the Tundikhel grounds were washed out due to insistent rain on Monday. The match between Casino Everest and Sunrise Bank was called off after nine overs of play while the other between Nepal SBI Bank and Casino Shangri-La was drawn without a single ball being bowled. All the four teams shared a point each. Nepal Telecom and Everst Bank are on top of Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ with three points each. — HNS


Committee formed

KATHMANDU: Nepal Shotokan Karate Association (SKIF) formed a 19-member Kathmandu District Committee on Monday. Dr Sushila Malla is the president of the newly-formed committee while Prakash Lama, Ishwor Kumar Shrestha and Bhagwati Bista are the vice-presidents. Sharad Raj Baidhya is the secretary, Nisha Lama joint-secretary, Sushila Bhattarai treasurer and Dr Kedar Uppreti joint-treasurer. Mahesh Poudel, Om Shrestha, Sushma Gautam, Rakesh Lama, Kokila Khadka KC, Min Bahadur Shahi, Ramesh Acharya, Sunil Pokharel, Biraj Bikram Shah, Mahesh Shrestha and Jharna Adhikari are the members. — HNS


Wushu training ends

KATHMANDU: The Indo-Nepal Wushu Training organised by Dragon Wushu Kung-fu Kwan has ended. In all, 50 participants — 45 players and five coaches — took part in the training that began on May 18. — HNS
