KATHMANDU: Prime College beat Kathmandu Engineering College (KEC) 69-49 to win the first Benoj Memorial Inter-college (+) Basketball Tournament, organised by Kathmandu District Committee of ANNISU (Revolutionary). Prime took the lead (21-15) in the first quarter and never trailed. Prime scored 8, 24, and 16 while conceding 7, 12 and 15 points in the next three quarters. Binod Shrestha of Prime and Sumit Gurung of KEC scored 23 points each. — HNS

Shotokan C’ship

KATHMANDU: Nepal Shotokan Karate Association, Thankot Dozo is organising the Valley-wide Open Shotokan Karate Tournament from Friday. In all, 300 karatekas will vie in the 20 weight categories — 10 each in both men and women’s sections. The winners will represent Nepal in the Indo-Nepal Karate Championship slated for May in Nepal, the organisers said at a press meet today. — HNS
