League postponed

KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) postponed the Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League Football for three more days on Tuesday. The league was scheduled to resume after a two-day break on Thursday but was further postponed citing security reasons. ANFA also rescheduled the fixtures for the remaining 21 matches. Sankata will take on Brigade Boys Club while Friends Club meet Three Star Club when the league resumes on February 18. — HNS

Jaques put on standby

SYDNEY: Phil Jaques was called into the Australian squad as cover for injured Michael Clarke for the Chappell Hadlee Trophy in New Zealand. Jaques will travel to New Zealand and should Clarke’s condition not improve, he will act as Clarke’s cover. Mike Hussey will lead the three-match ODI series, starting in Wellington on Friday. Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist were rested. — AFP

FA charge Redknapp

LONDON: Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp was charged by FA for using abusive words towards a match official following his side’s win against Manchester City on Saturday. Redknapp was sent to the stands during the match. He has until February 27 to respond to the charge. — AFP
