Gyan Niketan win

KATHMANDU: Gyan Niketan defeated Baba Boarding School 25-24 to win the mini boys’ title organised by Brihaspati Viday Sadan under the Valley-wide Inter-school Basketball Tournament today. Valley Public beat Rato Bangala 21-12 in the girls’ section final. District Education Officer of Kathmandu Durganath Gautam and director of the organising school Purushottam Raj Joshi gave away prizes to the winners. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Bikash Silwal struck hat trick as St Xaviers’, Jawalakhel crushed LRI 7-0 to enter the quarter-final of the 11th Fr Moran Memorial Inter-school Invitational Football Tournament today. Regina Emoris defeated Ideal Model 2-0 on goals from Ambar Magar and Ramesh Maharjan. Likewise, South Point and DAV played goalless draw while Little Angels’ (Jhamsikhel) and Daffodils played 2-2 draw. Pratik Mishra and Anav Gautam scored for Little Angels’ while Amir Gurung and Akram Rai converted for Daffodils. — HNS

LALITPUR: Sagun Thapa won the U-16 girls’ championship after beating Srisha Karki 7-6, 6-3 in the fifth Jayakar Memorial Junior Open Tenis Tournament. Bijay Timani and Hemal Khetan baet Niraj Wagle and Sandesh Singh Rathaur 8-7 to lift the U-14 doubles title. Maheshwor Tiwari and Amul Regmi entered the U-18 boys’ singles final. Linda McDougel and Priti Rijal also entered the U-18 girls’ singles final after winning their respective semi-final matches. — HNS
