Baghdatis pulls out

TOKYO: Australian Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus has pulled out of the Japan Open after failing to recover from a shoulder injury. Baghdatis, who won in Beijing this month for his first career ATP title, withdrew from the $940,100 event because the right shoulder he injured in practice for the Thailand Open on Friday was still too sore to serve, tournament organisers said. — AP
