Ideal Model, Baba win

Kathmandu: Ideal Model School, Baba Boarding School and Himalayan International Model School (HIMS) registered wins at the senior boys’ category in the fourth RIBS Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. Riding on Roshan Gurung’s 37 points, Ideal Model defeated Alphas School 65-35. Baba edged past Glen Buds School 49-36 in another match. T Sandhup Sherpa top-scored with 21 points for Baba. HIMS beat Galaxy 25-17. Wilson Academy overcame Baba School 33-13 in the junior boys’ section. Biraj Manandhar netted 10 points for the winners. In another match, Daffodils School thr-ashed Penwood Academy 35-9. Aran netted 18 points for Daffidils. Penw-ood Academy crushed Wilson Academy 24-3 in the girls’ match. — HNS

Sports festival

KATHMANDU: Binay KC of the American Embassy won the men’s singles table tennis title under the sports festival being organised by the Nepal- Japan Diplomatic Relations Coodination Council to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Suman Rana, also of the American Embassy, claimed the women’s singles title. Suman Rana and Rahendra Suwal clinched the mixed doubles title. The festival also includes Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Basketball and Volleyball tournaments. — HNS
