KATHMANDU: NRT beat Friends Club 2-1 in the Nepal Bank Junior (U-14) League on Wednesday. Anil Devkota and Sashi Chaudhary scored for NRT while Nirajan Malla scored for Friends. In the other match, APF and Machhindra played a 4-4 draw. Sujal Shreastha scored two, Buddha Lama an Anup Lamsal scored one each for APF while Aman struck twice and Kusal Bhujala and Liz Dangal scored one apiece for Machhindra. Yangal lift Yeti Cup

KATHMANDU: Yangal Cricket Club won the Yeti Air Cup cricket tournament on better run rates than Baluwatar Cricket Club and Mahabir Cricket Club after all the three were tied at six points. Following their 60-run win over Baluwatar on Wednesday, Yangal claimed the championship. Batting first, Yangal scored 176 runs in 38.1 overs and bowled out Baluwatar for 116 in 31.3 overs. Laxman Pradhan scored 64 runs for Yangal but it was Sanu Kaji Sthapit who took the match-winning five-wicket haul, therby excelling the team’s rate as well. The top two teams were supposed to play for the championship but the organisers, Kathmandu Cricket Asociation, reversed the decision at the last moment.— HNS
