DDC Chairman Cup

KATHMANDU: Nawalparasi and Sunsari advanced to the semi-finals of the U-14 DDC Chairman Cup Football Tournament held at Lalitpur on Sunday. Nawalparasi blanked Parsa 4-0 with Yuvaraj Gurung, Nirmal Ale, Barshat Gurung and Jivan Bhattarai scoring a goal each. Sunsari humiliated Saptari 12-2 in second quarter-final. Gyan Bahadur Khatri struck four goals while Diwas Nepali and Dil Kumar Thapa scored two each and Dilip Rajbansi, Samit Ale Magar, Robin Limbu and Samit Rai added one each. Nitesh Basnet and Bhumiraj Thapa pulled one goal each for Saptari. — HNS

Gurung, Rana win

KATHMANDU: Raj Kumar Gurung of Dhading and Rajiv Rana of Patan entered the final of the 28-31kg event of the Bagmati-wide Taekwondo Championship on Sunday. Ashish Ghimire of Bal Aawaj and Subhash Thapaliya of Dhalko secured the berths for the finals in the 24-27kg event. Likewise, Dinesh Upreti of Chitwan and Lokendra Kathayat of National Taekwondo Training Centre advanced to the final of the 40-44kg event while Bijay Shahi and Dinesh Maharjan entered the final of the 46-50kg while Ashish Maharjan and Bir Bahadur Tamang secure the final berths in the 58-62kg event. Saraswoti Tamang and Sabita Ale will fight for the girls’ 29-32kg championship in the final on Monday. — HNS

Eighth Budha Subba

DHARAN: The eight Budha Subba invitational Gold Cup Football tournament is scheduled to begin from Tuesday at the Dharan Stadium. A total of 12 teams will participate in the tournament. According to the president of the Dharan Football Club Kishor Rai, Nabil Three Star Club and Manang Marsyangdi Club will not take part this time. The winner will get Rs 75,000 and the best player will be given a motorcycle. — HNS
