League resumes today

KATHMANDU: The Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League is resuming from Sunday after a week-long break. ANFA had put the league to a sudden break citing technical reasons. On Sunday, Tribhuvan Army Club will take on Bouddha FC and Manang Marsyangdi Club will play against Sankata Club at Dasharath Stadium while NRT will face Boys’ Union Club and Jawalakhel Youth Club will meet Friends’ Club at Armed Police Stadium. — HNS

Training concluded

KATHMANDU: The six-day Micro-Cycle Training Planning organised jointly by German Nepal Athletics Development Project (GNADP), Training and Coaching Department (TCD) and National Sports Council, concluded here today. Conducted by GNADP director Gunter Lange and Chief Athletics coach Narayan Pradhan, 27 coaches from 18 different sports discipline participated the programme. Lange said he would conduct such programmes timely in the days to come. Director of the TCD Partha Sarathi Sen Gupta said that the coaches need to implement the learning in practice. NSC member secretary of the NSC Kishore Bahadur Singh gave away the certificates to the participants. — HNS

Woods opens centre

ANAHEIM: A winner of 57 tournaments worldwide and 10 major championships, Tiger Woods officially opened his $25 million learning centre aiming to help children find their way. Woods was joined by former US President Bill Clinton and Maria Shriver, the wife of California Govorne Arnold Schwarzenegger, along with dozens of the estimated 5,000 children, who will pass through the doors of the Tiger Woods Learning Centre by the end of the year. — AP
