Saptari, Morang win

LALITPUR: Saptari and Morang entered the final of the central level ANFA-Mayos Inter-school Football Tournament here at the ANFA complex on Saturday. Saptari defeated Sunsari 2-0 in the first semi-final. Duryodhan Chaudhary put Saptari ahead in the 45th minute and Uttam Bista doubled the tally in the 54th minute. Amit Karki scored the solitary goal four minutes into the game to help Morang beat Rautahat 1-0 in the second semi-final match. The final is slated for Sunday. — HNS

Basinas joins Mallorca

MADRID: Mallorca has signed Greece midfielder Angelos Basinas until the end of the season. Mallorca will also hold an option to sign Basinas for a further three years. Basinas, 30, was out of contract after leaving Panathinaikos last year. Basinas, capped 66 times and a member of Greece’s triumphant Euro 2004 squad, spent 10 seasons with Panat-hinaikos, helping it to Greek league titles in 1996 and 2004. Mallorca has also signed Leonardo Pisculichi and Jose Carlos de Araujo Nunes during the transfer window. — AP
