Ujir Thapa defeated Kishor Limbu 6-2, 6-0 in the inaugural match and entered the junior boys’ second round at the first Autumn Open Tennis Tournament, which has been organised by Fair Deal Tading Concern under the sponsorship of Sony and World Distribution Nepal. In other matches, Gaurabh Shah beat Nalin Barma 6-0, 6-0; Amul Regmi beat Nitesh Joshi 6-0, 6-1; and Lopsang Lama beat Sandesh Singh Rathour 6-4, 6-3. In junior girls’ section, Salony Pandey beat Shriya Mul 6-0, 6-1; Srija Karki beat Priti Serchan 6-3, 6-3, Kencho Palden beat Loksang Gurung 6-0, 6-4; and Salony Lama beat Sinthiya Satyal 6-0, 6-0. — HNS

KC leaves for Japan

KATHMANDU:

Harisharan KC, central committee member of Nepal Karate Federation, on Saturday left for Japan to take part in the special karate training. KC was invited by Japanese senior coach Kiyo Kiyo Takashi for the two-week course to be conducted by senior Badoriyo karate coach Yusiki Kuranami in Osaka. — HNS
