Everest, Tara in final

LALITPUR: Casino Everest and Casino Tara set the championship dates in the Casino Royale Birthday Cup Inter-casino Women’s Football Tournament here on Tuesday. In the first semi-final, Everest hosts Casino Royale 3-2 in tiebreaker after a goalless draw in normal time. Everest goalkeeper Sunita Bista was adjudged the best player of the match. In the other semi-final, Tara dispatched Casino Nepal 4-3 in penalty shootout after a 1-1 deadlock. Bina Devi Rai of Casino Tara was declared the player of the match. — HNS

Kiwis select Bond

Wellington: Star fast bowler Shane Bond has returned to the New Zealand one-day squad for their tour to Sri Lanka starting next month.

Bond fell out with New Zealand last year after signing for the Indian Cricket League but was welcomed back after cutting his ties with the rebel competition, along with fellow quick Daryl Tuffey. Bond was named today only for the one-day and Twenty20 squads for the Sri Lankan tour starting next month and will first join the New Zealand A team for their tour to India next month. — AFP
