Swimmers depart

KATHMANDU: Swimmers Alice Shrestha and Oshin Bharati left for Canada to take part at the XIth FINA World Swimming Championship. The event is being held in Montreal from July 17-31. Alice will take part in 50m and 100m breaststrokes; while Bharati will swim in 50m and 100m freestyle. The players are accompanied by coach Ishwor Karki, Ashok Bajracharya and Jagat Dhakwa. — HNS

Blood donation camp

LALITPUR: Brigade Boys Club organised a blood donation programme to mark the 59th birthday of King Gyanendra. According to Khadga Prasad Thapa, executive chief of BBC, 67 people donated blood. The club announced a six-member badminton committee under the convenorship of Amar Rai and a five-member repair and maintenance committee for Nara Park of Manbhavan with Chhatra Bahadur Thapa as the convenor. Lalitpur CDO Sthaneshwor Devkota gave away certificates to the donors and newly-appointed officials. — HNS
