Times Club grab second chance to enter final

Kathmandu, June 20

Times International Club defeated Nepal Police Club 2-0 in the second qualifier to advance to the final of the Kwiks Nepal Basketball League here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.

Times registered a 72-54 win over the departmental side in the second match of the best-of-three contest. Times, who had defeated NPC 81-69 in the first match yesterday, will now face Tribhuvan Army Club in final, in a rematch of the first qualifier.

NPC opened up with a 14-13 lead before Times bounced back to take a nine-point lead by winning the second quarter 17-7. Both the teams scored 24 points each in the third period, while Times dominated the final quarter 18-9 to complete the victory.

Times skipper Sadish Pradhan led the team from the front and top scored with 25 points that included four three-pointers. The skipper Pradhan also had two each assists and rebounds along with one block and three steals that earned him the player-of-the-match award.

TAC had defeated Times in the first qualifier 2-0 to make it to the final, while NPC made it to the second qualifier after defeating Golden Gate International Club 2-0 in the eliminator. Bhatbhateni Samriddhi Gorillas and NPC have made it to the final in women’s section. The finals are slated for Saturday.
