Tip Top win Marwadi Super Eights crown

Kathmandu, May 20

Tip Top won the title of the Tip Top Marwadi Super Eights Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Tip Top defeated iStores Warriors by 15 runs in the final. Opting to bat first, Tip Top scored 88-1 in their allotted seven overs before restricting Warriors to 73-5.

Amol Sharma scored a quick fire 40 off just 14 balls with the help of three fours and two eights, while Yogesh Sawarthiya played a fiery six-ball 26 hitting four boundaries.

In reply, Amit Verma, who cracked two eights, scored 28 off 17 balls, while Tushar Agrawal contributed 16-ball 23 hitting two boundaries and one eight for Warriors. Ashu Kandoi was the pick of the Tip Top bowlers taking 3-23.

Earlier in the semi-final matches, Tip Top beat Riders by 14 runs, while Warriors saw off Kocher Rangers by four runs. Batting first, Tip Top scored 97-2 riding on Ashu Kandoi’s unbeaten 38 off 17 balls and Amol Sharma’s unbeaten 16-ball 35. Kandoi hit four boundaries and an eight, while Sharma cracked two each fours

and eights.

In reply, Riders reached 83-4. Sumit Kadmiya scored 21-ball 34 hitting a four and two eights for Riders. Ashu Kandoi claimed 3-34 for the Tip Top.

In another semi-final match, Warriors scored 61-5 riding on Tushar Agrawal’s 27 off 12 balls that included three boundaries and an eight. In reply, Kocher reached 57-4 with Hitesh Dalmiya scoring 22 off 20 balls with the help of two boundaries.

Tip Top’s Ashu Kandoi was adjudged the player-of-the-tournament, while his teammate Amol Sharma won declared the best batsman and Riders’ Vicky Singel was named the best bowler.

A total of eight teams took part in the tournament organised by Devibas Events and Media Private Limited under the auspices of Khukuri ENT.
