Tottenham beat Norwich 3-0 to cling to 4th in EPL
LONDON: Harry Kane became Tottenham's highest scorer in a calendar year in the English Premier League when his pair propelled them to 3-0 over Norwich on Saturday.
Kane's first-half double, the first from the penalty spot, gave him 27 league goals this year, one more than Teddy Sheringham's record.
Substitute Tom Carroll finished off struggling Norwich, and Spurs, in fourth place, was two points ahead of Crystal Palace, and three clear of Manchester United.
Dele Alli assisted both times for Kane, and left late to a standing ovation. His deft reverse pass put Kane in space, and the striker received a penalty when he was clipped by beaten goalkeeper Declan Rudd. Kane buried the shot in the net. His second goal was his 11th in the league, and 13th in all competitions.
Alli set up more chances but Rudd foiled the shooters until Carroll, three minutes after going on, hit a swerving strike into the bottom corner for his first league goal for Spurs.
Norwich failed to build on last weekend's win over United, and has only two days to recover before facing last-place Villa at home.
