Triton hammer Everest

KATHMANDU: Triton College hammered Everest International College (EIC) by nine wickets while Shankar Dev Campus defeated Duerali Multiple Campus by 61 runs in the Inter-college Twent20 Cericket Tournament here on Thursday.

Everest managed 140-6 in their allotted 20 overs after electing to take the first strike. Triton surpassed the total losing just one wicket in 12.5 overs. Roshan Bam scored a fluent 43 off 30 balls while Sahil Khan contributed quickfire 30 off 10 deliveries for Everest.

Sanjay Shrestha was the pick of the Triton bowlers with 3-23 from three overs. Kesav Yadav, Ritesh Singh and Sunam Gautam also took one wicket apiece for Triton.

In reply, Triton openers Suvash Khakurel and Sanjay Shrestha tore apart the Everest bowlers. Man of the match Khakurel scored an unbeaten 71 off 72 balls while Sanjay Shrestha struck fiery 30 from just 15 balls. Sunam Gautam also chipped in with unbeaten 22-ball 24. Prabesh Khatri finished with 1-22 for Everest.

In the other match, Shankar Dev scored 188-5 before restricting Duerali for 127-5 in 20 overs. Shankar Dev top order batsmen were instrumental in posting the huge total. Man of the match Rabindra Chand struck 38-ball 53 and Surendra Thakuri made 41 off 35 balls. Suman Uday and Nisesh KC also chipped in 25 and 22 runs respectively. Sundar Maharjan, Sakar Lal Shrestha and Radip Awale claimed a wicket each for Deurali.

Deurali batsmen failed to capitalise on a strong foundation laid by openers Sakar Lal and Jayash Giri. Sakar Lal made a swift 56 off 50 balls and Jayash scored 30 from 25 deliveries but other batsmen failed to catch up with the soaring required run rate and were eventually restricted for 127-5 in their quota of overs.
