TU beat Shankardev

Kiran Rana took four wickets as Tribhuvan University defeated Shankardev Campus by 70 runs in the final of the third Vice-Chancellor Running Shield Cricket Tournament, organised by TU Free Students Union.

Batting first at TU Stadium, TU scored 169 runs losing eight wickets in 40 overs. Opener Padam Raj Joshi scored 17 off 40 balls including two fours before being dismissed by Diwas Thakuri, while other opener Sagar Subedi hit three boundaries in his 39-ball 16.

Kiran Rana scored 14 off 25 balls before being caught and bowled by Raman Shrestha, while Sanjaya Hamal scored 21 off 52 balls. Rajesh Panta top-scored for his team with 38 off 51 balls including two fours before being dismissed by Manish Lohani.

For Shankardev, Raman Shrestha took three wickets conceding 25 runs in eight overs, while Raju Basnet, skipper Manish Lohani and Diwas Thakuri grabbed one wicket apiece.

In reply, Shankardev Campus were packed off for just 99 runs in 21.2 overs. Opener Paresh Lohani scored 20 off 22 balls including three boundaries before being dismissed by TU skipper Padam Raj Joshi.

Padam also dismissed Karan Ghimire (8), while Anunaya Basnet scored 18 off 28 balls before being dismissed by Kiran Rana.

Man of the match Rana also dismissed Yug Basnet (10), Raju Basnet (11) and Bikal Shahi (2) and returned with figures of 5.2-2-6-4.

Padam Raj Joshi took three wickets conceding 23 runs in five overs. The organisers informed that the prize distribution ceremony will be held later after chief guest TU VC Prof Dr Gobinda Prasad Sharma, who was outstation, could not reach on time.
