Kathmandu, June 1:

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is organising the Shik-har Senior Two-day National Cricket Tournament from Sunday at four venues outside the Kathmandu valley.

The two-day league, first of its kind in Nepal, is being held at Nepalgunj, Birgunj, Bhairahawa and Kalaiya, said CAN in a release today. Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd is the chief sponsor, while Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd is the co-sponsor of the event.

Region No 5 (Nepalgunj) will take on Region No 6 (Baitadi) at the home ground on Sunday and Monday, before both the teams travel to Bhairahawa to join Region No 4. The three teams, after playing each other there, will then go to Birjung and join three others — Region No 1 (Biratnagar), Region No 2 (Birjung) and Region No 3 (Kathmandu).

Meanwhile, Region No 2 (Birgunj) announced the U-19 and senior squads for the respective national tournaments. The 14-member team that will take part in the Wai Wai U-19 National Cricket Tournament — that started at TU Stadium in Kathmandu on Thursday — consists of Sashi Keshari (captain), Anil Mandal (vice-captain), Sambhu Panjiyar, Hasim Ansari, Akash Singh Pariyar (wicketkeeper), Sumit Shrestha, Sarad Pokhrel, Ravi Thapa, Sanjog Pokhrel, Amir Sohail, Sanjog Karn, Amit Alok, Dipendra Thapaand Sushaht Thapa.

Similarly, the senior squad that will take part in the two-day national tournament includes Binod Das (captain), Rajiv Shrestha (vice-captain), Pratap Maharjan, Prahlad Shah, Suraj Timilsina, Raj Mohamad, Kumar Prasun, Sanjam Regmi,

Shiva Kumar, Shyam Thapa, Niraj Shrestha, Bikash Dali, Sanjaya Lama, and Shiva Tendulkar (wicketkeeper).
