Universal, CCRC enter quarters
Bhaktapur, December 3:
CCRC defeated Kathmandu Don Bosco by 134 runs and Universal beat New Summit College by 60 runs to enter the quarter-finals of the FW Taylor Inter-college Cricket Tournament which has been organised by Direction Nepal here at the Birendra Sainik Mahavidyalaya.
In the first match, CCRC scored 197 losing six wickets in the allotted 23 overs, riding on Anil Mandal’s explosive 37-ball 59 including eight fours and a six. National team’s hard-hitter Mehboob Alam hit four sixes in his 22-ball 42. Keshav Yadav took 5-20 for Don Bosco. In reply, Don Bosco could muster just 63 runs in 19.3 overs. Bishal Thapa was the lone batsman to reach the double figure mark with 29 runs. Man of the match Sudip Sharma of CCRC took five wickets conceding four runs in three overs.
In the second match, Universal College scored 132/9 in 25 overs. Man of the match Ishan Kharel top-scored with 48 off 57 balls. Pratik Dhakal took 4-14 for New Summit, who folded for 72 runs in 18.4 overs in reply. Santosh Adhikari took 3-8 and Daya Mani Bajracharya claimed 2-9 for Universal.
