Vaishnavi qualify for Coca-Cola Cup

Kathmandu, June 19:

Vaishnavi Secondary School qualified for the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament with 3-0 victory over Ganesh Secondary School here at the Central Region qualifying tournament today.

Vaishnavi secured one of the five berths available for the Central Region. Deep Jyoti Boarding School, Jalpa Secondary School and Bright Horizon Children’s Home have already qualified for the main tournament. One more team will qualify for the Coca-Cola Inter-school National Football.

Dinesh Thapa put Vaishnavi ahead early in the eighth minute before Suman Bhandari doubled their tally in the 16th minute. Thapa ensured Vaishnavi enter the main event scoring his second goal of the game in the 43rd minute.

Meanwhile, in the fight for the last remaining berth, Gyanodaya Bal Batika eased past Gyanchen Shamling School 3-0 to enter the Group I final. Sumit Ale scored in the 10th minute before Chirring Gurung (40th) and Amit Tamang (68th) added one goal apiece.

Likewise, Siddhartha Vanasthali and Mahendra Boudhha Secondary School advanced to the semi-finals in Group I. Siddhartha Vanasthali hammered Patan Secondary School 7-0 with Kumar Lama and Pradeep Magar each scoring a hat-trick. Lama scored in the fourth, 43rd and 61st minute while Magar converted in the 22nd, 52nd and 67th minute. Buddha Lama added another in the 33rd for Siddhartha Vanasthali.

Mahendra Bouddha defeated Laboratory School 4-1. Milan Rai scored in the 25th and 38th minute while Roshan Deubanjar struck in the 22nd and 51st minute. Hari Khadka pulled back one for Laboratory in the 62nd minute.

On Thursday, it’s Sahid Dharma Bhakta vs Joseph High School, RIBS vs St Xaviers, North East vs Gothatar, and Siddhi Ganesh vs Gyan Sikha.
