Valdes joins Liege
LONDON: Victor Valdes’ unsuccessful time at Manchester United effectively came to an end on Sunday when it was confirmed the goalkeeper was joining Standard Liege on loan.
The 34-year-old will remain with the Belgian club until the end of the season and then become a free agent.
“Manchester United and Standard Liege have reached agreement for the temporary transfer of goalkeeper Victor Valdes, effective until the end of the current season,” United said.
Valdes, once a mainstay at Barcelona, managed just two appearances since joining United 12 months ago.
On Thursday, Valdes sent a farewell message to United’s fans, saying: “Thank you all for your support during these months of hard work for me. I will never forget! See you soon!”
