KATHMANDU: The Chandragiri City Committee of Madan Bhandari Sports Academy is organising the second Chandragiri Deputy Mayor Cup Inter-school Girls Volleyball Tournament at the New Diamond Academy courts from May 22 to celebrate Volleyball Day.

A total of 10 teams will take part in the league-cum-knockout tournament. Top four teams will receive Rs 60,000, Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

The player of the series will get Rs 1,5000, while five best individuals — spiker, blocker, server, defender and setter — will receive Rs 1,000 each. The organisers have also planned to organise a friendly match between New Diamond Academy and one of the three departmental teams as part of Volleyball Day celebrations.

The Nepal Volleyball Association has declared May 22 as Volleyball Day after it was named as national sport on that day two years ago.
