Kathmandu, January 2:

Himalayan White House International College and RIBS entered the men’s section final while Rato Bangala and Happy Home advanced into the women’s final at the sixth men’s and fifth women’s Samsung National Basketball Tournament on Monday.

White House thrashed South Siders 60-22 in the first semi-final riding on Anil Maharjan’s 14 points.

The South Siders were never in the game as their opponents kept on extending their lead right from the first quarter. White House took 11-point lead (15-4) in the first quarter and extended it to 22 points in the second. White House scored 13 and 19 against South Siders’ 16 in the last two quarters.

The second men’s semi-final saw RIBS beat Public Youth Campus 79-52. Rinjin Thapa Magar netted match winning 27 points in the game.

In women’s section, Rato Bangala beat LRI 40-25. Sitashma Chand top-scored with 14 points for the winning team.

Happy home edged past Holy Garden 33-29 in another semi-final. The first quarter turned out to be the deciding factor in the game as Happy Home took four-point lead, whic proved cricial. Both the teams went head-to-head in the other three quarters.

Happy Home scored six, eight and five points to that of the seven, six and six of the Holy Garden in the last three quarters. Maya Syangtang top-scored with 17 points for the winners.

Both the finals of the tournament, which has been organised by Nepal Basketball Association, are slated for Tuesday.
