White House, Triton advance to semis

KATHMANDU: White House, Triton, Golden Gate and Xavier International made it to the girls' section semi-finals of the White House Cup third Under-19 National Basketball Tournament here today.

White House dispatched Depot Secondary School 31-13 riding on 10 points from Ayusha Malla, while Triton eased past Prime 32-23 with Rosin Gurung contributing 12 points for the winning team. Likewise, Neha Chaudhary scored 20 points as Golden Gate defeated Kaski 41-24 and Xavier overcame Nag Sports Club 59-45. Sima Karki scored 19 points in Xavier's victory.

Meanwhile, VS Niketan and Depot Secondary School entered the men's section quarter-finals.

VS Niketan sneaked past Whitefield 49-48 and Depot saw off JK Club 52-39. VS took a 17-4 lead in the first quarter, which ultimately turned out to be the deciding factor. Although they extended their lead in the next two quarters scoring 14-11, 18-17, VS Niketan almost handed the match in the last round. Whitefield fell one point short of taking the match into extra time after scoring 16 and giving away 10 points to VS Niketan. Ritesh Jung Khadka of VS Niketan netted nine points for the winners.

In the other match held at the NSC covered hall, Hemanta Raj netted 18 points to steer Depot to a 52-39 victory over JK Club.
