BANGALORE: West Indies restricted Sri Lanka to 122-9 in their World Twenty20 Super 10 match on Sunday, with spinner Samuel Badree the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

Fresh from their impressive six-wicket win over England on Wednesday, Windies skipper Darren Sammy won the toss at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and put Sri Lanka in, trusting his batsmen, led by the devastating Chris Gayle, to chase down any total.

Sri Lanka never got out of the blocks, with pace bowler Carlos Brathwaite drawing first blood by getting the in-form Tillakaratne Dilshan out lbw with his first ball of the match in the third over.

Dilshan, who scored 83 against Afghanistan on Thursday, had tried to set the tone, hitting his first ball for six and following that up with a boundary, but was out for 12.

Badree took 3-12 in his four overs to wreak havoc with Sri Lanka's top order and his first victim, Lahiru Thirimanne, was caught by Andre Fletcher on five in the sixth over.

The spinner struck twice more in the eighth over as Chamara Kapugedera was stumped for six and Milinda Siriwardana fell for a duck after edging to Gayle at slip.

Captain Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera had a mountain to climb to put a competitive total on the board, and managed 44 runs in 46 balls for the sixth wicket until Mathews was caught by wicket keeper Denesh Ramdin off a Dwyane Bravo delivery in the 16th over.

Perera did his best to keep things going, hitting five fours and a six en route to 40, but was caught in the last over again off Bravo, as Sri Lanka slumped to a disappointing total.
