KATHMANDU: Member of Cricket Association of Nepal Amrita Paudel on Friday resigned from her post with immediate effect. Paudel, who was nominated as the woman member in the cricket governing body, said she was not happy with the working ways of the CAN officials. “Instead of working for the development of cricket, the officials are engaged in dirty politics to keep their post and travel abroad,” Paudel said in her resignation letter. “I had been raising voice for the development of cricket from the beginning. And as a woman member of CAN, I was also interested in taking women’s cricket to new height,” said Paudel, manager of the team that won the ACC U-19 Women’s Championship in Singapore in 2010. “But the CAN officials always turned deaf ears towards my pleas and lately they stopped inviting me in meetings,” she added. “As a pure cricket lover, I decided to stay away from the board which is not ready to work for the betterment of the sport and players,” said Paudel. “From now on, I will be associated with Baluwatar Cricket Club and work towards the development of the game especially women cricket,” she added.
