Yogesh strikes as RCT beat Knight Chess Club in Dharan

DHARAN: Yogesh Gurung's solitary goal guided Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) into the semi-finals of the 12th Budha Subba Gold Cup Football Tournament with a 1-0 win over Knight Chess Club of Jhapa here on Friday.

RCT were right on target when Yogesh opened the team's account in the third minute. The striker met a decent cross from Rishi Rai and made no mistake in converting it. RCT will now take on hosts Dharan Football Club for a place in the final.

RCT were ominous in the first half with threatening moves but couldn't extend the lead as they muffed up almost half-a-dozen goal scoring opportunities.

Rishi was close to double the lead for RCT in the 44th minute but his fine header rebounded off the woodwork. Knight Chess were putting a competitive

fight and came close to scoring but Yogesh's third minute strike was enough for RCT to book a place in last four. Prem Limbu of Knight Chess attempted a powerful shot from inside the area only for RCT goalie to deny in the 15th minute.

On Saturday, UK Football Club of Darjeeling will take on Pokhara-XI.
