RAJBIRAJ: A person died after being hit by a vehicle in Surunga Municipality-4 along the East-West Highway in Saptari district on Wednesday night.

The identity of the deceased who appeared to be in his late 30s is yet to be established, said police.

An unidentified vehicle heading in an eastward direction might have hit the man killing him on the spot at 11:00 pm yesterday, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Singh, at the District Police Office (DPO), Saptari.

It has been learnt that the deceased had been begging in the locality to earn his living.

Meanwhile, police are working to identify the victim while the search is on for the vehicle that fled the scene, said the DPO.
