Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi appointed Nepal's Ambassador to UK

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday appointed Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi as Nepal's Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Dr Subedi is Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Bhandari made the appointment on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers as per Article 282.1 of Nepal's Constitution, according to a statement issued by the Office of the President.

Dr Subedi is known as Dubasu Chhetri in Nepali literary circle.

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee had conducted hearing on eight ambassadorial nominees -- Sewa Lamsal Adhikari (Pakistan), Tara Prasad Pokharel (Brazil), Prakash Subedi (Austria), Rishiram Ghimire (Russia), Durga Bahadur Subedi (the United Kingdom), Ramesh Khanal (Germany) and Jhabindra Prasad Aryal (Egypt), and Lok Bahadur Thapa (Belgium) -- from the foreign service in August.

With the change of guard of the government, the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led Cabinet, however, had withdrawn nomination of 14 others recommended by the previous KP Sharma Oli-led Cabinet.
