HoR passes Employees' Adjustment Bill

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives today endorsed the ‘Employees Adjustment Bill-2019 BS’ related to deputation of government staffers at the federal, province and local levels.

The meeting unanimously passed the proposal presented by Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari seeking endorsement of the Bill on behalf of the Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit.

Taking part in the discussions on theoretical aspects of the Bill, lawmakers from the ruling parties said issues of employee management should be handled by the federal government until the end of political transition.

Opposition lawmakers described the decision from the central government regarding the arrangements and appointment of employees against the principle of decentralisation.

In response to queries raised during the discussion session, Minister Adhikari said employee adjustment was a need of the hour to ensure effective coordination among the three-tiers of governance.

According to Minister Adhikari, a total of 77,034 employees have opted adjustment.
